Sharon Tucker, Walker County Civil Service Coordinator

Born in Elmhurst, Illinois, Mrs. Tucker’s family moved to Alabama when she was very young, she has lived in Walker County, Alabama ever since.  Mrs. Tucker attended T. W. Martin High School and graduated in 1981. 

In 2002 she married Charles Coleman Tucker.  They have one son who is married and they have two grandchildren.  Sharon and her husband are members of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Tucker’s first full-time job was working at a mining/industrial supply company delivering parts for approximately one month and then was moved to the main office to perform the duties of a receptionist/accounts receivable clerk.  Mrs. Tucker held this position for 11 years before becoming the coordinator for the Walker County Civil Service Board. 

Her position with the Civil Service Board performs administrative duties in the coordination of the activities of the Civil Service Board. As an employee of Walker County for many years Mrs. Tucker enjoys meeting people who are seeking employment with Walker County.

Employment opportunities within the County include clerical positions, administrative positions, law enforcement, mechanics, operators, sanitation and common laborers.  Mrs. Tucker believes in dedication and working hard in her position, always striving to go above and beyond in helping wherever she can.
