Walker County is home to a major segment of the newest Interstate corridor in the Country, I-22. The I-22 corridor was officially opened June 20th, 2016 when the I-65 final connection was completed.
This corridor runs 213 miles from Birmingham, Alabama to Memphis, Tennessee and connects I-240, I-40, I-55, and I-69 in Memphis. It also connects I-65 and I-20/I-59 in Birmingham making it a main artery throughout the Southeast. This makes Walker County easily accessible to major metro areas such as Birmingham, Atlanta, Nashville, and Memphis.
