Walker County Alabama

Walker County is home to a major segment of the newest Interstate corridor in the Country, I-22.  The I-22 corridor was officially opened June 20th, 2016 when the I-65 final connection was completed.

This corridor runs 213 miles from Birmingham, Alabama to Memphis, Tennessee and connects I-240, I-40, I-55, and I-69 in Memphis.  It also connects I-65 and I-20/I-59 in Birmingham making it a main artery throughout the Southeast.  This makes Walker County easily accessible to major metro areas such as Birmingham, Atlanta, Nashville, and Memphis.  Walker County has 42 miles of interstate highway with a total of eleven interchanges making the county an ideal location for business and commerce.

Birmingham being a 20 minute drive and the closest metro area, offers Walker County Residence access to the benefits of a major metro area while retaining its rural charm.  This charm consists of beautiful residential communities, active Main Street program, a growing retail hub, award winning healthcare facilities, low cost of living, along with waterfront living on Lewis Smith Lake or Black Warrior River.   Walker County also offers a high standard of quality public education and home to Bevill State Community College.

Walker County is also known for its outdoor recreation such as award winning fishing on Lewis Smith Lake and Walker County Lake, along with hunting and water activities.  Scenic parks, walking trails, camping, public indoor/outdoor pool complex, and close proximity to State and National Parks makes Walker County an ideal place to live.

We hope you will come visit, and like it well enough to choose Walker County for your home and business..
